Summary:

We are seeking a skilled PowerBuilder Developer to join our team and contribute to the development, enhancement, and maintenance of legacy applications using PowerBuilder technology. As a PowerBuilder Developer, you will be responsible for analyzing, designing, coding, and supporting mission-critical business applications. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with PowerBuilder, relational databases, and application development life cycles.


Key Responsibilities:


Application Development & Maintenance:

  • Develop, test, and maintain applications using PowerBuilder (PowerScript).
  • Perform modifications and updates to existing PowerBuilder applications to ensure functionality and improve user experience.
  • Provide ongoing support and troubleshooting for PowerBuilder applications in a production environment.


Database Management:

  • Develop and optimize SQL queries for relational databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, or DB2.
  • Design and implement database structures, procedures, and triggers to support application requirements.
  • Work with database administrators (DBAs) to ensure performance tuning and data integrity.


Integration & Interfaces:

  • Design and implement interfaces between PowerBuilder applications and other systems.
  • Integrate PowerBuilder applications with web-based systems, APIs, or other backend applications when required.


Collaboration & Communication:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (business analysts, QA engineers, project managers) to gather requirements, design solutions, and ensure effective implementation.
  • Communicate project progress, timelines, and risks to stakeholders.


Documentation:

  • Create detailed technical specifications, system documentation, and user manuals.
  • Document the design and architecture of applications and ensure all modifications are tracked.


Code Quality & Optimization:

  • Ensure high standards of code quality and performance optimization.
  • Perform code reviews to ensure best practices and adherence to coding standards.
  • Participate in testing and debugging to ensure applications are functioning correctly.


Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
