Summary

Power Systems Engineer Job Description Join a team dedicated to developing cutting-edge optical, thermal, and power generation systems. In this role, you will lead field testing, support installations, and enhance system performance through hands-on work and data analysis. Responsibilities + Lead field testing and commissioning of advanced energy systems. + Create and execute test plans to evaluate system performance and reliability. + Troubleshoot and optimize thermal storage, solar concentrators, and power systems. + Travel to test sites and customer locations for installations and ongoing testing. + Use data acquisition tools to collect and analyze performance data. + Coordinate with engineering teams, vendors, and logistics partners. + Write detailed reports on test results and propose design improvements. + Support system integration and ensure seamless hardware/software deployment. + Train customers and technicians on system use and maintenance. Essential Skills + Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or related Engineering field (BS/MS/PhD). + 5+ years of experience in field testing or support of mechanical/electrical/thermal systems. + Hands-on experience with high-temperature systems, power units, or energy storage. + Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and software domains. + Familiarity with data acquisition systems and control interfaces (PLC experience a plus). + Ability to read technical drawings and documentation. + Experience leading on-site installations and collaborating with contractors/customers. + Comfortable working outdoors and traveling up to 50%. + Able to lift up to 50 lbs and perform hands-on work. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Experience with Stirling engines, CSP systems, or thermal energy storage. + Experience in renewable energy or industrial thermal systems. + Knowledge of Python, MATLAB, or similar tools for data analysis. + Experience with electrical systems up to 480VAC and motor controls. + Understanding of safety protocols for high-temperature and power systems. Work Environment The role involves working in a dynamic and rapidly expanding group at the forefront of power generation. You will work in diverse environments, often outdoors, with travel required up to 50% of the time. Expect to engage in hands-on activities and interact with a variety of stakeholders.
