Position: Power BI Developer (Tableau Migration Specialist)

Location: Offshore (Remote)

Reporting To: Power BI Architect / Project Manager

Job Purpose

The Power BI Migration Developer will be responsible for the end-to-end migration of Tableau dashboards to Power BI, ensuring 1:1 functional replication while adhering to security, performance, and compliance standards. The role involves translating Tableau workbooks into Power BI datasets, reports, and dashboards with minimal disruption to end-users.

Key Responsibilities

1. Dashboard Migration & Development

Convert Tableau workbooks (.twb/.twbx) to Power BI (.pbix) while maintaining:

• Equivalent visualizations (charts, tables, KPIs)
• Identical filtering & interactivity logic
• Consistent layout & user experience
• Replicate Tableau calculations into Power BI DAX measure
• Implement bookmarks, drill-through, and tooltips to match Tableau functionalit
• Ensure performance optimization (query folding, incremental refresh if needed)

2. Data Modeling & Security

• Rebuild Tableau data models in Power BI (import/DirectQuery)
• Implement row-level security (RLS) as per existing Tableau permissions
• Validate data accuracy against source Tableau reports

3. Testing & Validation

Conduct unit testing to ensure:

• Numerical outputs match Tableau
• Visual rendering is consistent
• Cross-filtering & tab interactions work correctly
• Support UAT (User Acceptance Testing) with client teams

4. Documentation & Handover

• Maintain migration logs (changes, issues, resolutions)
• Document DAX logic vs. Tableau calculations cross-reference
• Provide post-migration support during transition

Prerequisites & Qualifications

Mandatory Skills

• 3+ years of Power BI development (DAX, data modeling, Power Query)
• Experience migrating from Tableau to Power BI (at least 1 full project)
• Strong DAX skills (able to replicate Tableau LOD expressions)
• Understanding of Tableau concepts (worksheets, dashboards, data blending)
• SQL knowledge (for data validation & query optimization)
• Experience with Power BI security (RLS, workspace roles)

Preferred Skills

• Familiarity with Power BI deployment pipelines
• Knowledge of SSO integration (Azure AD, Okta)
• Exposure to Power BI Premium capacities
• Basic Python/R for advanced analytics (if applicable)

• Communication (clear updates to onshore teams)
