What To Expect
The Policy Advisor will be focused on state legislative work and building relationships with regulatory bodies in the Central states. This person will interface with state leads internally and business partners externally to drive state and local level policies on Tesla's behalf. This position will sit in Austin, Texas.
What You'll Do
Develop and execute state policy strategies —legislative and/or regulatory—impacting Tesla in the Central US in all aspects of its businessEngage with state and local officials—legislators, constitutional officers, appointees, and other public officials—to accomplish Tesla’s policy objectivesWork with trade associations, allies, and stakeholders to build consensus on policies or proposals, including developing advocacy campaigns, public relations or communications strategiesBe responsive to needs of Tesla leadership and internal business unitsAssist internal business units in problem-solving building, land use, air quality, and other permitting and policy issues impacting Tesla’s facilitiesPartner with other internal teams and external stakeholders to develop and implement community outreach initiatives or events
What You'll Bring
Degree in relevant field or equivalent experience and evidence of exceptional abilityFive to ten years’ experience in state government affairs, political or grassroots organizing, or policy advocacyDemonstrated history of managing policy initiatives or campaignsExcellent relationships with state officialsSuperb judgment and emotional intelligence with ability to resolve contentious issues, and forge consensus and build coalitions among divergent viewsIndependent, self-directed team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and has excellent interpersonal, communication, and conflict resolution skillsKnowledge of relevant transportation, electric vehicle, and clean energy policies
