Position Responsibility: A unique opportunity to run a small drill crew for fiber installation primarily. Will operate drilling equipment, hydro-excavator, plow, and mini-excavator. This position will include: performing drill shots and completing all prep work involved (potholing, placing Handhole) and completing restoration of site with other crew members. Assisting primary drill crew when needed due to vacation/illness or larger jobs. Operating a plow for large drill jobs in rural Iowa locations. Completing and turning in all footages and as built prints to ensure billing is completed effectively. This position is a stepping stone to operating a larger 4-5 man drill crew and would be great for someone who has experience running equipment is excited to gain leadership skills and eager to take on more responsibility in the drilling crew. Position Requirements Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug and alcohol testing A valid Class A CDL is required. If candidate does not have a CDL they will be asked to obtain within 30 days of employment Ability to communicate fluently with crew members and other Local Underground employees Ability to drive long distances, and to tow trailers in accordance with DOT standards. Must be able to use backhoe, trenching and plowing equipment, mini-excavator and hand tools for construction, cleanup and restoration. Excellent organizational, time management, problem solving, written and verbal skills Must be able to function a tablet and smartphone to access prints, emails, and photos Positive work demeanor and ability to problem solve easily with others. Physical Demands Must be in good physical condition with the ability to stoop, crawl, bend at the knees and waist, squat and lift 50 lbs May be required to work long and unpredictable hours Position requires working outdoors in all types of weather conditions Position Type and Expected Hours of Work This is a full-time position with a typical work schedule of Monday - Friday, 7:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m. with overtime requirements. This is a safety sensitive position. Candidates should expect some travel (15%) within regional states, including extended overnight stays up to week at a time if required. Local Underground will compensate a per diem for travel and overnight stay if applicable.
