Freedom Technology Solutions Group is hiring a Platform Engineer to assist in the new product development of a data lakehouse platform that is intended to facilitate and enhance the discovery, access, use, and sharing of diverse data types across an expanding network of suppliers and consumers. By managing the complete data workflow – ranging from ingestion and enrichment to discovery and dissemination – we believe that data lakehouse-based solutions will be instrumental in enabling AI/ML.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
We are seeking a talented and motivated Platform Engineer to join our dynamic and growing team. In this role, you will work closely with development teams to design, implement, and optimize the platforms and tools that they use. Key responsibilities and requirements are outlined below:
- Key Resonsibilities
- Infrastructure Management: Setting up and maintaining key development infrastructure.
- Automation: Automate tasks like infrastructure provisioning for development and test environments and CI/CD pipelines.
- Platform Design: Design and implement the platform's architecture, ensuring it meets the needs of the team
- Monitoring and Reliability: Monitor the platforms performance and health and ensuring its reliability and stability.
- Collaboration: Work with developers and security professionals to ensure the platform is secure and effective.
- Documentation and Training: Create documentation and materials to assist platform users integrate with the tools and capabilities of the platform.
- Performance and Optimization: Optimize the platform for speed, efficiency and cost.
- Key Requirements
- Cloud Computing: Familiarity with cloud platforms like AWS, Azure.
- Containerization: Strong experience with technologies like Kubernetes and Docker, including experience in managing, deploying and scaling containerized applications.
- Infrastructure Automation: Proficiency in tools like CloudFormation, Terraform, Ansible, and Chef.
- Scripting and Programming: Skills in languages like Python, Node and shells bash, sh.
- DevOps Practices: Understanding of CI/CD principles and best practices and GitLab for automating builds, tests and deployments.
- Operating Systems: Linux administration experience with an emphasis on patching, troubleshooting and security.
- Networking: Understanding of network concepts and technologies.
- Security: Knowledge of security best practices and threat modeling.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This role is a foundational hire as we build out a software development and product team.

Education and/or Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field.
- 2 - 10 years of experience.
Anticipated Salary Range
- $100k - $150k base salary. Opportunity for performance based bonus. Total compensation package will be commensurate to skillset and experience.
