Summary

The Plant Manager will report to the Vice President, Operations. He/she/they will oversee and be responsible for all daily manufacturing operations at the facility, including, but not limited to, managing, directing, and coordinating plant operations and ensuring all policies, regulations, and procedures are followed to promote a safe work environment. The plant produces electrical cable with extruded coatings – both polymer and rubber compounds.


The Plant Manager has full P&L responsibility and will ensure the achievement of company objectives by delegating authority to key Production and Control Supervisors, Manufacturing Engineering, Maintenance, Quality, Shipping, Materials, and quality laboratory.


Total non-union employment at the plant and distribution center is about 265, with 185 of those in production over three shifts. The site does host the R&D team for this product group which reports elsewhere.

Responsibilities

  • Drive a continuous improvement culture by involving employees in problem solving and decision making as well as recognizing them for exceptional work.
  • Provide directions to operations to meet manufacturing schedules and production plans.
  • Facilitate a synchronous manufacturing operation.
  • Develop, monitor, and maintain adherence to established budgets, both expense and capital.
  • Develop open lines of communication to continually monitor employee attitudes and concerns and implement appropriate actions with input from Human Resources.
  • Recommend and implement changes regarding production capability, tooling, machine replacement, and staffing in support of production plans as well as cost-effective procedures, systems, tooling, equipment, etc., to continually improve manufacturing productivity. • Implement Smart Factory/Digital Manufacturing.
  • Coordinate and direct activities that respond to customer and market needs through contact with marketing and sales departments and district sales offices.
  • Coordinate the development of the annual plans, focusing on the Value Streams. Participate in the development of divisional strategic plans.


Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or relevant field. An MBA or other graduate degree in a related field is strongly preferred, though not mandatory
  • 10+ years’ experience in a production environment required, ideally in a continuous process industry and product group.
  • Advanced knowledge of Lean Methodologies required; Lean Certification required.
