We’re partnering with a well-established manufacturer of grain handling, storage products, and structural systems serving the agricultural and aggregate industries to recruit a Plant Manager for their Des Moines-area facility.


In this key leadership role, you will oversee plant operations—including production, warehouse, maintenance, and facilities—with a focus on achieving production goals on time, within budget, and with the highest quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on leader who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is passionate about continuous improvement and team development.


Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee production scheduling and execution to ensure orders are completed on time, accurately, and to customer specifications
  • Manage plant costs in areas such as materials, scrap, overtime, tools, and supplies to meet budgetary goals
  • Drive Lean manufacturing and 5S initiatives to improve efficiency, quality, and overall performance
  • Collaborate with internal teams, customers, and vendors to ensure seamless operations and communication
  • Monitor and maintain adequate inventory levels for production supplies and raw materials
  • Lead the maintenance team to ensure minimal machine downtime and optimal equipment performance
  • Foster a strong team culture by mentoring, developing, and retaining high-performing employees


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Engineering, or a related field
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive leadership experience in a manufacturing environment, including P&L responsibility and budgeting
  • Strong knowledge of steel or metal fabrication environments preferred
  • Demonstrated success with Lean/continuous improvement, production scheduling, budgeting, and plant operations
  • Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft Office
  • Proven track record as a servant leader with strong decision-making, problem-solving, and team-building abilities
  • Experience implementing change management strategies and building alignment around a shared vision
  • Strong understanding of safety (OSHA), supply chain, and cost control principles
