Summary

We are seeking a full-time Planning Engineer for our Costa Mesa office.


Urban Arena is a multi-disciplinary firm on the cutting edge of Architecture, Landscape Architecture, & Planning. With offices in Costa Mesa, San Diego and Oakland, UA attracts a diverse group of professionals working on a range of projects from Urban Villages, Retail & Entertainment Centers, Model Homes, Master-Planned Residential Communities, and High-Density Housing & Sports Complexes.


We are looking for a creative individual to join our team and assist with all phases of planning work including design, drafting, and calculations. We are seeking an individual who has experience in civil engineering and will be enthusiastic to learn mater site planning.


Duties and Responsibilities

·     Conduct code research

·     Develop multiple types of site plans including shopping centers, life-style apartments, high density residential, and estate lots

·     Communicate effectively with Client’s, Consultant’s, and team members

·     Assist the Architecture Department in the development of projects and product

·     Draft in AutoCAD site plans

·     Perform calculations in Excel

·     Assist in preparing applications, entitlement packages, and supporting documentation for planning applications


Key Knowledge, Skills, and Other Abilities

·     AutoCAD drafting experience in either civil engineering or site planning

·     Understand how to draft in AutoCAD roadways, ROW, different sized residential lots, retail parking lots, and basic building placement

·     Must have a conceptual understanding of grading and water quality principles

·     Must be proficient with mathematics and excel for land area, density, and unit sf calculations

·     Client-facing skills

·     Management skills such as multitasking, organization, time management, and professionalism

·     Experience with Microsoft Office Suite programs

·     Proficiency with GIS software preferred

Education/Experience Requirements

·        Associate’s degree in civil engineering or bachelor’s in planning, landscape, architecture

·        Minimum of 2 years’ experience
