Job Summary: Set up, operate, or tend machines to roll steel, forming bends, beads, knurls, rolls, or plates, or to flatten, temper, or reduce the gauge of materials. Monitor machine cycles and mill operation to detect jamming and ensure that products conform to specifications. Address and correct machine set-ups to reduce thicknesses, reshape products, and eliminate defects. Must Be/Have: Familiarity with rolling and milling machinery, ability to read rolling orders and blueprints, and proficiency in using measurement tools. Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail are essential. Responsibilities include but not limited to: a. Start and operate rolling and milling machines to flatten, temper, form, and reduce sheet metal sections, producing steel strips or similar products. b. Examine, inspect, and measure raw materials and finished products to ensure conformance to specifications. c. Read rolling orders, blueprints, and mill schedules to determine setup specifications, work sequences, product dimensions, and installation procedures. d. Monitor machine operations, identifying and correcting malfunctions, jamming, and other issues. e. Adhere to safety protocols, ensuring a clean and safe working environment. f. Communicate with supervisors to ensure production priorities and resolve any operational issues. Additional duties include but are not limited to the following: Participate in continuous improvement efforts, contributing to the enhancement of MWI’s Quality System. - Collaborate with supervisors and other team members to optimize machine operations. - Maintain a positive attitude, strong work ethic, and excellent initiative. - Utilize interpersonal skills to interact courteously and respectfully with coworkers, managers, and customers. - Exhibit flexibility and foresight to help MWI improve efficiency and productivity. Physical Demands:Must be able to stand, sit, feel, twist, walk, talk, hear, see, drive, bend, drive, crouch, grasp, squeeze, crawl, kneel, squat, push, pull, apply pressure, reach overhead. Ability to focus for extended periods of time. Ability to lift and carry 40 lbs. regularly if required, steady hands in order to obtain and meet required quality. Must be able to safely operate all required machinery. Ability to work outdoors subject to local weather conditions. WORKING CONDITIONS:Traditional non-air-conditioned heavy industrial manufacturing environment. Extended hours and weekend work may be required.
