Summary

Carroll College in partnership with the national search firm, Scott Healy & Associates, invites applications and nominations for the position of Physician Assistant (PA) Program Director and Department Chair. The program director is a full-time, 12-month faculty and administrative appointment. The program director will report directly to the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs (SVPAA).


Responsibilities:

Program Development: 

  • Lead the development of a high-quality curriculum that is consistent with ARC-PA Standards and will lead to successful graduates.
  • Recruit and hire a high quality, diverse team of faculty and staff.


Enrollment Planning and Management:

  • Recruitment and selection of qualified students.
  • Operationalizing the curriculum through development of semester schedules and faculty assignments according to their expertise.
  • Work closely with Carroll’s recruitment and marketing team through this process.


Budget Planning, Development and Management: 

  • Prioritizing and communicating budgetary and other resource needs to the Carroll administration.
  • Responsibly managing the allocated budget.

Program Affairs: 

  • Overseeing the day-to-day operations of the PA program including supervision of the medical director, faculty and staff.
  • Ensuring timely and appropriate internal and external communications.
  • Developing and maintaining ongoing program evaluation and outcomes assessment processes consistent with ARC-PA Standards.


Academic, Personal and Professional Leadership:

  • Mentoring faculty and staff to facilitate their personal and professional growth and advancement including encouraging excellence in teaching, scholarship and service.
  • Fostering teamwork, high morale, and a positive workplace for program personnel.

Student Service: 

  • Ensuring students are aware of program and institutional policies and responsibilities.
  • Addressing any deviations or concerns.
  • Facilitating student access to institutional and community resources as needed.


Representing the Program: 

  • Working with college administration and colleagues to develop and maintain a strong reputation for the PA program within the institution, region and the PA profession.
  • Representing the program to internal and external constituencies in a positive and professional manner. 


Qualifications

  • Master’s degree (doctorate preferred).
  • NCPPA Certified Physician Assistant/Associate.
  • 3 years of full-time higher education experience at the time of appointment.
  • Eligible for licensure as a PA in the State of Montana.
