Physical Design Manager - Hyderabad

A leading semiconductor services company is looking for a Physical Design Manager to take the reins of technical leadership and team development across advanced SoC design projects. This role offers the rare balance of hands-on design responsibility and strategic oversight, ideal for experienced professionals seeking both technical depth and managerial influence.

As the Physical Design Manager, you'll oversee a skilled team of engineers working across multiple global projects. You'll be responsible for ensuring delivery excellence in physical implementation, while also mentoring your team, shaping engineering practices, and collaborating closely with internal and external stakeholders.

This isn’t just people management — you’ll remain technically hands-on, leading complex floorplanning, timing closure, and sign-off activities across sub-system and full-chip designs. The successful candidate will be deeply familiar with advanced technology nodes and industry-standard EDA tools.

Responsibilities would include:

• Leading physical implementation across cutting-edge nodes (3nm, 5nm, 7nm, etc.)
• Managing the planning and execution of physical design flows from RTL to GDSII
• Working directly with global customers to ensure technical alignment and delivery satisfaction
• Mentoring engineers, driving performance reviews, and supporting career development
• Troubleshooting and resolving complex design challenges, including timing, IR-drop, and physical closure issues
• Collaborating with tool vendors for technical support and toolchain optimisation
• Contributing to project estimation, technical documentation, and stakeholder communication

Required experience:

• Proven experience in 8+ successful taepouts
• Previous experience in a Physical Design leadership role
• Expert across the complete RTL-GDS flow
• Proven experience with industry-leading tools such as Synopsys or Cadence
• Strong scripting skills
