About the role

Due to an internal promotion, AGL's Bayswater Power Station is looking for a Performance Engineer to lead operational performance initiatives that deliver efficiency, reliability, and environmental gains.

In this site-based role, you'll play a key part in executing a performance engineering program that supports better plant efficiency, fuel use, emissions outcomes, and operational discipline. Working closely with Engineering, Asset teams, and Operators, you'll be the critical link in turning data into meaningful action.

What you'll be doing:

  • Monitor and analyse plant performance, identifying and actioning efficiency and stability improvements.
  • Lead the execution of the Asset Performance Program, including key weekly, monthly, and annual activities.
  • Build meaningful relationships with Engineering, Operations, and Maintenance teams, translating performance insights into site-wide improvement strategies.
  • Drive the identification and reporting of site losses, and implement initiatives that reduce fuel consumption, CO₂ emissions, and auxiliary losses.
  • Promote and maintain HSE standards, ensuring alignment with AGL policies and fostering a strong safety culture.

What you'll bring:

  • Preferred tertiary qualifications in either Chemical/Process Engineering or Mechanical Engineering with a history of complex assets experience.
  • Equivalent significant operational/process experience will be considered.
  • Experience in complex process-focused industrial environments or on asset performance, energy efficiency, or operational improvement.
  • Project management skills and experience in managing multiple priorities are highly valued.
  • Solid understanding of energy balances, thermal efficiency, and process optimisation.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, particularly in navigating relationships with Operators and frontline teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and project coordination skills.
  • Effective communicator who can translate technical insights into practical outcomes.
