Position Title Peer Tutor - Student Worker Department Tutoring Services Job Description
Peer Tutors provide quality one-on-one and group learning assistance to guide students in developing their skills to become independent and successful learners.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: Provide high quality one-on-one and group tutoring to all students. Contribute in the development of supplemental materials for specific subject areas. Maintain proficiency in using online meeting software (primarily Zoom) and tutoring session reporting systems (primarily Accudemia). Attend all trainings and workshops pertinent to specific tutoring assignments. Attend all meetings conducted by the Professional Lead Tutors and Library Director in conjunction with tutoring. Participate in all tutoring evaluation procedures. Maintain confidentiality and record progress of student learning during the tutoring sessions. Treat all students with dignity and respect. Perform other duties as assigned by Tutoring Services. Promote a safe and positive work environment in all aspects of Kishwaukee College.
Qualifications/Skills Required
Current enrollment at Kishwaukee College as a student with at least 6 credit hours. Achievement of at least a 3.6 GPA in the course/courses they will tutor (courses selected per the needs of Tutoring Services). Recommendation from an instructor of a class they will tutor. Must be dependable, responsible, reliable, and punctual. Willingness to learn and ability to explain concepts to others.
Number of Hours Per Week 4-8 hours/week—number of working hours may vary due to the subject tutoring and the class schedule. Days of Week Flexible Physical Demands Salary $15.00 per hour
