Payroll Specialist Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Payroll Specialist to join our finance team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for processing payroll accurately and efficiently, ensuring compliance with all applicable laws and regulations. This role requires a strong understanding of accounting principles, and tax regulations, and proficiency with the Empeon software, and Dragon processing software. The Payroll Specialist will play a crucial role in maintaining employee records and supporting the overall financial operations of the company.

Responsibilities

• Entering payroll information for all the employees
• Managing time and attendance.
• Process payrolls for all employees, ensuring accuracy in hours worked and deductions.
• Prepare journal entries related to payroll transactions.
• Managing the Benefits, 403B, Health insurance, HSA accounts, and PTO.
• Utilize, Empeon, Dragon, and HRIS systems for payroll processing and record maintenance.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state ,and local tax regulations.
• Collaborate with the CFO and Controller.
• Collaborate with the HR department to manage employee benefits and deductions.
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll issues or discrepancies.
• Maintain confidentiality of sensitive employee information.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in 10-key typing for efficient data entry.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles, including corporate accounting practices.
• Experience with account reconciliation and preparing journal entries.
• Familiarity with Empeon,Dragon, FundEZ, Millin, and MITC systemsis preferred.
• Knowledge of tax regulations as they relate to payroll processing.
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
• Previous experience in payroll or accounting roles is a plus.
