Summary

Job Summary:

We are looking for a highly detail-oriented and knowledgeable Payroll and Compliance Manager to manage end-to-end payroll operations and ensure adherence to all statutory and labor compliance requirements. This role will also oversee labor law compliance audits and internal controls to ensure our organization remains fully compliant with applicable laws and regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll Management:

  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for all employees with a high level of accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Ensure timely salary disbursements, statutory deductions, and reconciliation of payroll accounts.
  • Maintain and validate payroll data, including attendance, leaves, bonuses, variable pay, and employee reimbursements.
  • Coordinate with HR, Finance, and IT teams to ensure seamless data flow and payroll updates.
  • Address and resolve employee payroll-related queries in a timely and professional manner.

Statutory Compliance:

  • Ensure full compliance with statutory obligations, including Provident Fund (PF), Employee State Insurance (ESI), Income Tax (TDS), Professional Tax (PT), Labor Welfare Fund (LWF), and other applicable laws.
  • Prepare and file all statutory returns and challans within prescribed timelines.
  • Keep abreast of updates in tax laws, labor laws, and payroll regulations, and adapt processes accordingly.

Labour Compliance:

  • Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, and central labor laws including Shops and Establishments Act, Contract Labour (Regulation and Abolition) Act, Payment of Wages Act, Minimum Wages Act, and other applicable regulations.
  • Maintain statutory registers and records as per labor laws (e.g., Form A, B, C under CLRA).
  • Handle contractor compliance documentation and ensure vendors/contractors meet required legal obligations.
  • Coordinate with legal consultants or labor law advisors for complex cases or notices.

Audit and Internal Controls:

  • Prepare and maintain all payroll and compliance records for internal, statutory, and external audits.
  • Assist in conducting periodic internal audits and compliance checks to identify risks and rectify discrepancies.
  • Collaborate with auditors during payroll, tax, and labor law audits, and provide required data and clarifications.
  • Recommend and implement improvements to enhance payroll accuracy and compliance controls.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, HR, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in payroll processing and statutory/labor compliance.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll software (e.g., SAP, ADP, GreytHR, Zoho Payroll).
  • In-depth understanding of Indian labor laws and statutory regulations (or region-specific laws, as applicable).
  • Experience in handling payroll audits and labor inspections.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Excel and financial reporting.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • High level of integrity and ability to handle confidential information.
