Job Title: Payroll Clerk

Salary Range: $27.00 - 29.00

Location: Seattle - Hybrid

About The Position

The Payroll Clerk is responsible for timely and accurate daily payroll and general accounting functions.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

  • Maintaining confidentiality of Goodwill financial, human resources, and payroll affairs.
  • Reviews and processes payroll changes.
  • Process bi-weekly and semi-monthly payrolls.
  • Prepare check requests for payroll deposits and other deductions.
  • Process wage garnishments.
  • Maintain payroll files.
  • Prepare state worker’s compensation quarterly report.
  • Process federal payroll taxes and payments.
  • Manage vacation accruals.
  • Support payroll Lead in training of new payroll and accounting staff.
  • Process period-end journal entries and unclaimed property.
  • Reconcile general ledger account as assigned.
  • Demonstrates safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture; reports any potential hazards or accidents.
  • Perform any other duties as assigned.

Education And Experience

  • Associates degree with emphasis in accounting or business administration (or equivalent in education and experience).
  • Minimum four years’ payroll experience.
  • Excellent communication and organization skills are required.
  • Capability of effective planning and priority setting. Ability to manage several complex projects simultaneously while working under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Internal/external customer service skills are essential for all job functions.
  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements.

Job Experience & Proficiency Tenure

  • Skilled (1-4 years of experience)

Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations: N/A

Computer/Technology Skills

  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize MS Word, Excel, Power Point, Great Plains, ADP, Ceridian preferred.
  • Familiarity with computer equipment and accounting, timekeeping payroll software packages.
  • Preferred experience with Microsoft Dynamic (6P 2013 or later).
  • Ability to learn new technology and software as related to the job.

Physical Abilities

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required sit for long periods of time, communicate with other employees by talking and hearing, required to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds and to operate computer systems. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Able to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills. Maintain reliable attendance.

Work Environment: Office environment, moderate noise level. This position requires reliable transportation to other locations and attending meetings and events. Ability to work a flexible schedule, some weekend or evenings may be needed.
