Job Description

SUMMARY OF DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: NYC Health+ Hospitals Payroll Administrator carries out responsibility for maintaining the timekeeping data necessary for payroll processing. This position oversees a team of Mainframe Timekeepers and a Facility Ambassador.

General Tasks And Responsibilities Will Include

  • Recruit, mentor and develop Timekeeping and local Facility Ambassador staff, manage staff working remotely
  • Perform and supervise all activities necessary to ensure timekeeping data are timely and accurate
  • Collaborate with payroll processing team to ensure all timekeeping data and adjustments are processed accurately and timely
  • Ensure Facility Ambassador provides professional and quality customer service to employees through adherence to the department’s scripts, and in compliance with corporate policies and procedures
  • Responsible for collaborating with the timekeeping and customer service lead to identify, develop and update procedures to enhance timekeeping and customer service processes
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for development of various staff and employee trainings designed to improve operations
  • Engage with facility leadership and internal partners in other functional areas (Human Resources, Labor Relations, etc.) to effectively manage and address payroll-related issues
  • Collaborate with local HR and Labor Relations representatives on employee-related issues to facilitate timely and complete handling of employee inquiries
  • Serve as liaison between facility leadership and payroll operations and functional teams with regard to employee inquiries and focused efforts for priority or recurring issues
  • Maintain departmental goals, monitor key performance indicators and report out unit performance against set goals
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by supervisor

Minimum Qualifications

  • A Baccalaureate Degree with a major in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration, or related approved field of study; and,
  • Four (4) years of responsible level administrative and supervisory experience in financial, accounting or payroll operations, with emphasis on planning, coordination, control, audit and review of operations.
  • Knowledge of accounting and payroll systems and principals, cost distribution systems, payroll operations, federal, state and city employee tax withholdings, and employee deduction systems.
  • A satisfactory combination of training, education and experience.
