UPMC Children's Community Pediatrics is hiring a Full-Time Payment Application Specialist III to support the office in a hybrid role.

Purpose:

Responsible for the posting and balancing of payment and adjustment transactions including electronic processes. Responsible for posting denials, patient and insurance refunds.

Responsibilities:

  • Process third-party reimbursements with guidelines set forth in the department.
  • Initiate the refund process to ensure timely return of misdirected revenue.
  • Process reimbursements to multiple billing systems and automated systems as required.
  • Provide back up support for other staff members who perform various departmental functions.
  • Responsible for meeting departmental goals on a daily basis.
  • Review manually posted payments and adjustments for accuracy.
  • Perform batch audits.
  • Responsible for entering payments/non-payment denials into the Epic billing system.
  • Responsible for entering self-pay, insurance, and manual exception payments into the Epic billing system.
  • Manage the EFT set-up of commercial payors.
  • Assist the Supervisor with various reporting functions.
  • Audit posting accuracy of electronic files and documents as required.
  • 6 years' experience in a physician office or hospital business unit preferred.
  • Must have experience in business functions such as registration, billing, payment posting and collections.
  • Must have experience with medical terminology and reimbursement practices.
  • Microsoft Word and Excel (or an equivalent package) and various office equipment.
  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Must be able to work independently and as a team member.
  • Must be able to meet departmental quotas on an ongoing basis.
  • High school diploma or GED with three years' experience is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in healthcare or business field is preferred.

Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:

  • Act 34.
