UPMC Children's Community Pediatrics is hiring a Full-Time Payment Application Specialist III to support the office in a hybrid role.
Purpose:
Responsible for the posting and balancing of payment and adjustment transactions including electronic processes. Responsible for posting denials, patient and insurance refunds.
Responsibilities:
Process third-party reimbursements with guidelines set forth in the department.
Initiate the refund process to ensure timely return of misdirected revenue.
Process reimbursements to multiple billing systems and automated systems as required.
Provide back up support for other staff members who perform various departmental functions.
Responsible for meeting departmental goals on a daily basis.
Review manually posted payments and adjustments for accuracy.
Perform batch audits.
Responsible for entering payments/non-payment denials into the Epic billing system.
Responsible for entering self-pay, insurance, and manual exception payments into the Epic billing system.
Manage the EFT set-up of commercial payors.
Assist the Supervisor with various reporting functions.
Audit posting accuracy of electronic files and documents as required.
6 years' experience in a physician office or hospital business unit preferred.
Must have experience in business functions such as registration, billing, payment posting and collections.
Must have experience with medical terminology and reimbursement practices.
Microsoft Word and Excel (or an equivalent package) and various office equipment.
Must demonstrate strong interpersonal and communications skills.
Must be able to work independently and as a team member.
Must be able to meet departmental quotas on an ongoing basis.
High school diploma or GED with three years' experience is required.
Bachelor's degree in healthcare or business field is preferred.
Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:
Act 34.
