The Patient Account Representative is responsible for answering inbound calls from patients and answer any questions regarding their bill. They will ensure a professional, pleasurable, and remarkable patient experience. Position will also perform insurance verification prior to the patient’s date of service to provide each practice with patient’s eligibility.
Answer inbound patient calls to provide information and answers to any questions about their bill for all AEG practices
Take ownership of each call to ensure patients fully understand current bill
Review and understand patient transactions in point of sale and billing systems
Review and understand patient explanation of benefits (EOBs) and insurance explanation of payments (EOPs)
Review and understand patient benefit summary sheets and insurance payer web portals
Take patient payments
Checking voice mails for any messages and returning calls to patients
Work with practice appointment scheduler to identify and resolve insurance appointments missing benefit information
Identify and escalate situations as appropriate to the correct department
Make recommendations for efficiencies, processes, etc. which will help deliver quality, cost savings, and profitability improvements within the department
Requirements
High School or GED
Prior insurance billing/claims experience
Prior Customer Service experience a plus
Prior optical experience a plus
Experience in a call center environment helpful
Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced environment requiring multi-tasking and frequent redefining of priorities
Basic PC skills to include MS office, Windows, Word, and Excel
Demonstrate the ability to work successfully in a team environment, functioning for the good of the team over the individual
Able to work a flexible schedule including Saturdays. Schedule based on call volume to accommodate the needs of the business
