JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
Penn State Conferences and Institutes, a department within Outreach, is currently accepting applications for a part-time Program Manager.
The ideal program manager is an extremely organized, task-oriented individual who can work with faculty members to develop and deliver conferences, summer youth programs, and credit programs that have an off-site learning component. While working as part of a team, program managers oversee a portfolio of 10-12 programs annually. The program manager is the hub of the wheel as they coordinate program development, budgeting, marketing, registration, speakers, logistics, contracts, on-site management, and evaluation for each program, with each program having its own unique objectives and needs.
Education and Experience:
Minimum requirement is a Bachelor's degree plus three (3) years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated skills in event planning, program management, or project management. The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, excellent communication skills, budgeting experience, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, teamwork, and organization are critical to the program manager's success. We value candidates who are forward-thinking, open-minded, and flexible, who have the dedication to learn a variety of new programs, procedures, and systems.
Schedule and Work Modality:
This part-time position is estimated to involve 20-25 hours per week of work. More hours may be required during peak times. Approximately 8 hours of work per week will be done at C&I's space in Innovation Park, to support a culture of in-person collaboration, mentorship, apprenticeship, and team-building. The remaining hours can be worked remotely. This position requires a flexible schedule during conference delivery and will include occasional weekend and evening work, which the employee will be aware of well in advance for planning purposes.
