Overview As a part-time instructor you will provide instruction within our IT Web Software Developer degree program. Instructors need to lead courses that engage and prepare students for careers in their area of study. Responsibilities Provide instruction for assigned classes. Remain current with industry needs and assure graduate outcomes that meet the workplace expectations. Engage in ongoing student learning assessment to determine effectiveness of instruction and curriculum. Create a classroom/lab environment that is respectful of diversity and demonstrates a commitment to multiculturalism. Maintain accurate student records and reports as requested by administrative offices. Identify students needing assistance and refer students to Student Services. Collaborate with Student Services and the Academic Support Division staff members to help students adjust to the learning environment. Remain current on developments in the teaching field so that instruction is delivered for a variety of learning styles, uses the latest supportive technology and utilizes alternative delivery methods. Prepare and update course syllabi (using BTC guidelines) for each course taught. Assist in the enforcement of college regulations and report student conduct violations to administration. Hold weekly office hours, and other duties required to meet student, employer, and college needs. Qualifications Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in IT Related Field A minimum of two years (4,000 hours) of occupational experience in a target job for the program(s) being taught, of which at least one year (2,000 hours) shall be within five years prior to the date of appointment. One year (2,000 hours) of related occupational experience may be waived if the occupational instructor has at least two years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within five years prior to the date of appointment (two years of post-secondary teaching experience means eight semesters of part-time teaching or four semesters of full-time teaching at an accredited institution). Desired Qualifications: Previous post-secondary teaching experience. Experience teaching in an online/hybrid course environment and exposure to learning management systems Blackhawk Technical College does not offer H-1B or other work authorization visa sponsorship for this position.
