Learning Grove is a leading nonprofit early childhood education provider in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky.

Our School Age Services program is a network of 30 programs that provide extended kindergarten, before- and after-school care for elementary-age children. Our structured school-age programs allow children to remain with their friends and minimize transitions to new locations before and after school.

Overview Of The School Age Services Instructional Assistant Role

Assist in maintaining a safe and healthy learning environments for children with appropriate arrangement of materials, space, and supplies.

Supervise children at all times within sight and sound and adhere to daily schedule and transition times. Encourage children’s learning through discovery, curiosity, creativity and a healthy self-concept.

This might be a given, but our teachers and instructional assistants should have a positive nature and be flexible, and know that we work best as a team.

Minimum education, experience and other skill requirements for School Age Services instructional assistants:

  • You must be at least 16 years old.
  • Some post-secondary education and experience with working with children preferred

While performing the duties of this job, the school age services instructional assistant is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, bend and lift objects of at least 25 pounds; walk up and down steps; and stand on feet and work with children 90% of the time.
