Summary

Summary The Department of Law and Public Policy Director will be responsible for providing hands-on academic operations for an ABA approved Paralegal Studies Program. The Director will be responsible for student retention, classroom learning outcomes, faculty performance and maintain compliance with the ABA guidelines while following the College’s plan of growth. Additionally, this position manages the Administration of Justice Program. This requires knowledge of the justice System and all facets of it. Education: A Juris Doctorate Degree required. Program Director Functions: Manage a small bench of adjunct Paralegal and Administration of Justice Faculty. Oversee the hiring and training for new Paralegal Studies faculty. Ensures they are qualified to teach the appropriate courses. Responsible for student retention and success through faculty student engagement and program outcomes. Advise, mentor and coach students in person, email, text and phone communications. Create success plans with continual follow up as necessary. Guide course content and development of new curriculum while working in tandem with subject matter experts. Evaluates instructors’ performance based on student evaluations, on ground classroom observations, pedagogical learning methodology, student engagement and achieving CLO’s/SLO’s per term. Responsible for Paralegal Studies student course satisfaction and completion rates. Responsible for contacting, advising and creating academic warning and probation plans for all Paralegal Studies students. Manage student I, W, F processes each term through coordination with other program Deans. Ensure programmatic course content is updated and consistent with the College’s On Ground strategic plan. Create and maintain digital and print Paralegal Studies course curriculum binders. Manage Paralegal Studies faculty to ensure grade books are set-up and updated on a weekly basis. Ensure program faculty contact absent students and document the activity on the faculty portal. Act as a program SME as needed. Participate in faculty meetings, instructional seminars, and in-service training sessions. Qualifications: This position requires that only candidates with a Juris Doctorate Degree or higher with at least five years of related work experience. Experience teaching in a post-secondary institution a must.
