As an Outside Sales Account Manager, you will be a HUNTER! You will play a key role in driving growth by enhancing brand visibility and increasing sales within a designated territory. Your primary responsibility will be to generate new customer relationships, nurture existing ones, and introduce new products to restaurants, hotels, medical facilities and all food service providers. You will manage the full sales cycle from lead generation to closing, ensuring consistent territory growth while collaborating closely with the Director of Sales to meet and exceed revenue goals.

What You Will Be Doing:

Customer Acquisition:

  • Actively seek out new customers by cold calling, researching new restaurants, and leveraging contacts within the food service industry. You will be responsible for identifying potential clients, scheduling meetings, and conducting presentations to demonstrate the value of the company's products and services. This requires consistent follow-up and engagement until deals are successfully closed.

Sales Growth:

  • Drive sales growth by meeting or exceeding quarterly volume and revenue targets within your assigned geographical territory. You'll be expected to build strong relationships with decision-makers and key stakeholders at each client organization, continuously identifying opportunities for upselling and cross-selling products.

Account Management:

  • Maintain and grow relationships with existing customers by understanding their business needs, offering new product lines, and ensuring they receive the best possible service. You will frequently visit existing clients to strengthen relationships, discuss product performance, and identify opportunities for additional sales or product expansion.

Performance Monitoring:

  • Consistently monitor and evaluate customer performance, ensuring that sales data, customer details, and account activity are regularly updated. Use performance metrics to make data-driven decisions on where to focus efforts and how to adjust strategies to increase account growth and profitability.

Profitability Oversight:

  • Work closely with the Director of Sales to develop strategies that maximize profitability within your territory. You will manage pricing structures, negotiate contracts, and ensure that customer accounts are meeting both revenue and profitability targets, helping contribute to overall company financial health.

Customer Service:

  • Provide exceptional customer service by responding promptly to customer inquiries, resolving any product or service-related issues, and keeping customers informed of seasonal trends and market updates. You will ensure that customers feel valued and supported, strengthening the company's reputation for outstanding service.

Pricing and Negotiation:

  • Develop competitive pricing strategies tailored to each customer’s needs. You will conduct regular analyses of competitor pricing and market trends, then negotiate contract terms that deliver value to the customer while protecting company margins.

Collaboration:

  • Work closely with internal teams—including operations, supply chain, and finance—to ensure seamless execution of sales initiatives. Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth product delivery and implementation of company-wide projects that drive growth.

Reporting:

  • Prepare detailed reports on your sales activities, including pipeline status, customer engagement, and sales performance metrics. You will present updates to the Director of Sales regularly, providing key insights and suggestions for future strategy adjustments.

What You Bring:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Sales, or a related field.
  • At least 3+ years of proven success in sales, preferably in food service, wholesale, or retail sectors. Experience in produce sales will be highly regarded.
  • Must possess a valid CA driver’s license, with a clean driving record and the ability to travel regularly within the assigned territory.

Skills:

  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate product offerings and value propositions.
  • Advanced negotiation skills, with experience in pricing and contract negotiations that deliver win-win outcomes.
  • Ability to develop, manage, and convert self-generated leads into long-term customers, using strong sales tactics.

Preferred Qualifications:

Culinary Background:

  • Knowledge of culinary operations, food preparation, or kitchen management is a plus, providing valuable insights into customer needs and product applications.

  • Fluency in both languages is preferred, allowing you to engage a wider range of customers in diverse communities.
