Job Description

  • Database design: Design, implement, and maintain Oracle databases for production environments
  • Disaster recovery: Use Golden Gate replication to design and implement disaster recovery plans
  • Database performance: Monitor and optimize database performance, including CPU usage, memory consumption, and disk utilization
  • Database maintenance: Perform routine maintenance tasks like patching, backups, and archiving
  • Database migration: Migrate databases from one version to another
  • Database security: Implement security measures for computer or information systems
  • Database troubleshooting: Troubleshoot issues related to database performance tuning, query optimization, and data consistency
  • Golden Gate configuration: Configure and manage GoldenGate replication between databases
  • Golden Gate troubleshooting: Troubleshoot issues with GoldenGate installation, setup, and configuration
  • Golden Gate reporting: Generate GoldenGate reports and monitor them hourly

Some Additional Responsibilities Of An Oracle DBA May Include

  • Creating primary database storage structures
  • Designing interfaces and database objects
  • Creating database-related scripts and programs
  • Researching, evaluating, and recommending new or improved database tools
  • Coordinating project activities with other personnel or departments
