Summary

Role Responsibilities

  • Administer Oracle databases, ensuring their availability, performance, and security.
  • Perform routine database maintenance tasks, including backups and disaster recovery.
  • Implement database monitoring solutions to track performance and health.
  • Tune database performance by analyzing and optimizing SQL queries and processes.
  • Manage user access and security privileges in accordance with company policies.
  • Coordinate and execute database upgrades and patches as needed.
  • Develop and maintain database documentation including architecture diagrams, processes, and procedures.
  • Provide on-call support for critical database issues outside of regular business hours.
  • Work closely with application developers to optimize database access and enhance application performance.
  • Identify and resolve database connectivity issues and system errors.
  • Assist in the planning and execution of data migrations and installations.
  • Create and manage scripts for automated database tasks and reports.
  • Evaluate and recommend database technologies and tools to enhance system capabilities.
  • Conduct regular performance assessments and present findings to management.
  • Stay current with the latest Oracle database features and updates.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience as an Oracle Database Administrator.
  • Strong understanding of Oracle database architecture, including installation and configuration.
  • Experience with database performance tuning and optimization techniques.
  • Knowledge of data backup and recovery best practices.
  • Proficiency in writing and optimizing SQL queries.
  • Experience with shell scripting for automation and reporting.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve database issues efficiently.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Familiarity with monitoring tools (e.g., Oracle Enterprise Manager).
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of security best practices for database management.
  • Desire to continuously learn and adapt to new technologies.
