Must- Haves (Hard Skills):
· Proficient in Linux Red Hat.
· 2 years’ experience in database administration field performing the specification, selection, evaluation, testing, deployment and operation of Postgres and Maria DB on Linux or Windows OS and servers.
· Experience debugging database stored procedures, functions.
Degree/Certification Requirements:
· Bachelor’s with 6 yrs experience or Masters with 4 yrs exp.
Description:
· L3Harris is searching for a senior technical professional to join the team as a Database Administrator (DBA).
· Responsibilities for this position include support to System Administrators and software engineering during the development of a new system by installation, configuration, patching and maintenance of databases.
· The DBA will also monitor and maintain the database performance and scalability.
· The position ensures that the database platform related procedures adhere to the system’s design and architecture.
· This individual will manage system access user accounts and develop the procedures for database system configuration to support production builds.
· This individual will also assist program teams with technical analysis, and support the testing and roll-out of new patches.
· The position includes participation in the program’s focus on smoothing the transition from system development to operational readiness within the program’s lifecycle.
· This position is ONSITE and located at the L3Harris offices located in Melbourne, Florida.
· On call schedule rotations are determined by the program. On call requires this candidate to report onsite with a response time of one hour maximum.
· This position requires travel to disaster recovery site and support as needed.
Essential Functions:
1. Database management with Oracle single instance and also Oracle Rac (ASM & Clusterware) (versions 11g, 12c, 19c) Strong Oem Skills.
2. Able to create and maintain physical standby databases. Postgres (EDB & Open source) able to create and maintain standby databases using pg_auto_failover.
3. Able to maintain a Sqlserver DB. Knowledge covering installation, configuration, highly skilled in backup/recovery, high availability, data replication solutions, refresh other environments, applying patching/upgrades, HA/DR implementation/support in a traditional data center environment and also in cloud.
4. Performs database software installations, configurations, patching and upgrades on RedHat and Windows operating systems.
5. Maintains databases in accordance with established policies, procedures and service level agreements.
6. Administers database in both a VMWare virtualized environment and bare metal servers possibly involving containerized applications.
7. Strong performance tuning skills to be able to work with software engineering and improve response times of database queries.
8. Creation of jobs, stored procedures, and other database activities as needed. Migration of data from one DB platform to another keeping data integrity priorities.
9. Control of database security systems and how users interact with the data.
10. Documentation of database processes.
11. Plan and execute implementations of new data related applications and systems.
12. Review and implement new database designs based on developer requirements.
13. Complete system performance tuning and diagnostic related tasks.
14. System health monitoring and proactive correction of issues.
15. Troubleshoots problems associated with the assigned Enterprise system(s) collaborating with the SysAdmins and Software.
16. Coordinates with system vendors to resolve issues, arrange service, and obtain support.
17. Monitors and tunes the system to achieve optimum level of performance.
18. Manages and directs proactive and reactive database administration activities to ensure the availability, integrity, and reliability of networked and stand-alone systems.
19. Works to automate deployment of database related repetitive tasks and maintain them.
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, IT Security or related field, and minimum 6 years related experience; or a Master’s degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, IT Security or related field, and minimum 4 years related experience.
· Minimum 2 years of experience in the database administration field performing the specification, selection, evaluation, testing, deployment and operation of Postgres and Maria DB on Linux, or Windows Operating Systems (OS) and servers.
· Proficient in Linux Red Hat experience.
· Experience debugging database stored procedures, functions and other objects.
· Proven troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
· Excellent core database administration life cycle skill set from installation to disaster recovery.
· 1 to 2 years of experience in specifying, configuring, deploying or managing cloud-based systems and architectures
Preferred Additional Skills:
1. Experience configuring and maintaining Linux operating systems.
2. Knowledge and experience with other RDBMS platforms like Oracle (11g/12c/19c and later), SQL Server (version 2012 and later) , OEM 12c, Postgres administration, backup, recovery, refresh databases, performance tuning, HA/DR solutions, upgrade and patching in a virtual environment is an added plus.
3. Ability to learn new DB technologies leveraging on prior experience, and quickly able to adapt.
