Team Overview

Join EquiLend’s Bengaluru office as an Oracle Database Administrator and play a key role in maintaining and scaling the database infrastructure that powers our Spire platform - a core component of our global trading and post-trade services.

As part of the global database team, you’ll take on ownership of administration and engineering tasks across Oracle environments. You’ll drive improvements in operational efficiency and system reliability through enhanced monitoring, proactive maintenance, and automation.

This is a high-impact role supporting key initiatives such as Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and cloud migration to AWS, enabling EquiLend to scale with agility and resilience.

Role Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Oracle databases across development, QA, and production environments, ensuring performance, availability, and security.
  • Support and optimize the Spire platform database infrastructure, with a focus on proactive maintenance and monitoring improvements.
  • Take ownership of daily operations for Oracle environments, including installations, patching, and incident management.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives including IaC adoption and AWS database migration, working closely with platform engineering and DevOps teams.
  • Develop and enhance automation scripts to streamline database operations and reduce manual overhead.
  • Participate in performance tuning, capacity planning, and disaster recovery planning activities.
  • Monitor system health using standard tools and troubleshoot performance and availability issues.
  • Collaborate with internal teams across regions to support project delivery, platform changes, and production support.

Required Skills

  • 3–6 years of hands-on experience in Oracle Database Administration, working with Oracle versions 12c and 19c in a production setting.
  • Strong understanding of Oracle database architecture, performance tuning, and backup/recovery practices using RMAN.
  • Experience supporting mission-critical platforms, ideally including exposure to multitenant environments and Oracle PL/SQL.
  • Working knowledge of Linux OS (e.g. RHEL) and scripting for automation of routine tasks.
  • Exposure to Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g. Terraform, Ansible) and interest in cloud migration, particularly AWS.
  • Solid troubleshooting and diagnostic skills with a proactive, ownership-driven approach to issue resolution.
  • Experience with PostgreSQL database administration and performance tuning in hybrid or cloud environments is highly desirable.
  • Clear communication and collaboration skills, especially when working with cross-functional or global teams.
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotations and provide off-hours support when needed.

Role Location Benefits

  • Hybrid Working: You can work remotely for up to 50 days each year.
  • Discretionary Annual Cash Bonus: A discretionary cash bonus is available to reward your performance and contributions to the company’s success.
  • Generous Vacation Days Per Year: Take advantage of 30 vacation days annually, plus public bank holidays.
