Job Requirements
To be fully engaged in providing Quality/No Harm, Customer Experience, and Stewardship by: assisting nursing and anesthesia personnel in the care of the surgical patient, improving the flow of the surgical schedule, and providing clean, sterile instruments for surgical procedures.
Primary Accountabilities
* Is knowledgeable, complies with and supports rules and regulations, guidelines and standards includingdepartment policies and procedures, Joint Commission, CMS, AORN, AAMI, AHCA, etc.
* Responds to critical situations promptly and professionally.
* Participates in patient safety initiatives and communicates concerns in regards to patient safety to supervisor, manager, or director.
* Accurately pulls instrument sets and supplies from preference lists for surgery cases; organizes instrument needs based on daily schedule, case load and instrument turnover.
* Communicates effectively with Central Service regarding priority instrument needs, STAT requests and par level of single packed "core" instruments.
* Clean and sterilize instruments between cases as necessary.
* Assist with obtaining and procuring any specialty instrument needs for procedures.
* Maintains effective communication with OR supervisor or designee and works closely with OR board manager to facilitate the efficiency of the surgery schedule.

Work Experience
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
* High School Diploma or equivalent.
* Must be able to read and write in the English language for effective communication.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
* Visual acuity and hand-eye coordination to use computers and Central Service Equipment.
* Good physical condition and without assistance must be able to lift, push, or move equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
* Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and stoop for 90% of assigned shift.
