Digger Derrick Operators assist with a variety of installation, maintenance and repair projects involving street lights, traffic signals, pedestrian crossovers, signage, flashing beacons and other traffic electrical devices. Operators are an important part of our 3-5 persons crews and work year round Monday to Friday, 40+ hour weeks with opportunities for overtime. Expect periodic out of town and night shift assignments. To thrive in this role you must be a hard-working individual with exposure to the construction industry, can show up on time everyday and work in a physically demanding environment.
Responsibilities
Ensure safe and effective operations of equipment such as digger derricks, bucket trucks, skid steers, mini excavators, pulling trailers, rigging for lifts etc.
Perform daily preventative maintenance and mechanical checks.
Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines at all times, ensuring your safety and the safety of your team members and the public
Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment. This includes removing debris, organizing materials, and ensuring tools and equipment are properly stored.
Perform other activities at construction sites, as directed such as pulling wire, pouring concrete bases, unloading materials etc.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor

Ability to adapt to changes in assignments and priorities in response to new information, changing conditions, or unexpected obstacles
Strong work ethic, punctuality, and reliability
Experience operating in urban environments
Ability to maintaining high levels of productivity and able to work long hours when necessary
Ability and willingness to perform duties in inclement and adverse weather conditions
Knowledge of DOT restrictions and regulations
Knowledge of OH&S Acts and Legislation
Qualifications
High School Diploma with a minimum 2 years related experience operating equipment
Valid Alberta Class 3Q driver’s license and submission of a 5-year Driver’s Abstract with less than 7 demerits
Industry courses in equipment operating is considered an asset
Fall Protection, Standard First Aid, Ground Disturbance, Aerial Work Platform are assets
