As an Operations & Technology Intern, you'll gain hands-on experience supporting key projects across People Operations (HR), IT systems, and office management. This internship is designed for a recent (2025) Making Waves Academy graduate interested in gaining exposure to careers in nonprofit operations, systems management, or workplace culture. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams and learn how strong internal operations power an impactful organization.
What You’ll Do
Support IT project and process management, including employee onboarding, offboarding and basic help desk support
Assist with People Operations initiatives, such as staff communications, surveys, and virtual file systems
Join team meetings, take notes, and share clear next steps
Help support office logistics to ensure a positive workplace experience for all team members
Support general administrative duties such as purchasing supplies, keeping inventory, stocking shared spaces, filing, and distributing mail
Contribute to process documentation and process improvement across People & Culture & IT
Participate in team meetings and learn how nonprofit operations work behind the scenes
Use Asana, a project management tool, to track and share progress on daily, weekly, monthly tasks
Requirements:
Required Qualifications
A clear interest in careers in nonprofit operations, people systems, or technology
Passion for delivering great service and supporting a positive workplace culture
Curiosity to learn and ask questions, especially when trying something new
Comfort using basic technology (email, Microsoft Word, Excel, Zoom, and online forms) and willingness to learn more
Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a proactive attitude
Dependable, organized, and respectful in a professional setting
Required Schedule
This is an in-person role with the following schedule (Tuesday to Thursday from 10a-2p) with the flexibility to work up to three (3) additional hours a week.
