MATSYS, Inc. is seeking an

Operations Support Intern

to work alongside

our

team of high-performing scientists, engineers, and technicians in our Sterling, VA facility.

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in manufacturing operations and be a

highly motivated individual with strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail.

By virtue of contract requirements, this position is open to U.S. Citizens. MATSYS does not support housing for summer interns.

Description

  • Data Collection and Reporting.

Gather, organize, and analyze data to support operational reporting.

  • Continuous Improvement Support.

Assist in process improvement studies and document findings.

  • KPI Tracking.

Monitor and maintain performance metrics to ensure operational efficiency.

  • Procurement Support.

Assist in the optimization of supply chain and purchasing strategies to ensure the timely acquisition of goods and services essential to the continuation of production operations.

  • Material Handling.

Collaborate with material control and logistics team to support planning, scheduling, and purchase of inventory/stock items. Participate in vendor management activities. Organize Work Orders and facilitate the movement of materials and documentation through the production process in a timely fashion.

  • Presentation Development.

Create reports and presentations summarizing key findings for engineers, machinists, and leadership.

  • Administrative Support.

Assist in scheduling, documentation, and general support tasks related to operations.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required

  • U.S. Citizenship
  • 1

8+ years of age

  • Recent college graduate or, are currently pursuing a Masters degree, or Bachelors degree with less than one year of college remaining.
  • 2 years of related work experience OR prior related internship experience and pursuit of degree in a relevant field
  • Working Conditions
  • The role requires working in a machine shop environment, often exposed to loud noises, moving machinery, and potential hazards. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided

Preferred

  • Experience or coursework in operations, business administration, or project management.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement methodologies.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Project)
