Summary

Bachoco USA is seeking a Shift Manager over 2nd Shift in our Fort Smith, AR further processing facility.


Job Summary: Works hand in hand with Plant Manager to control the operation. Works on special projects. Fills in for the Plant Manager role in their absence. Responsible for the sanitation department and works with USDA on plant issues.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Make sure all safety standards are being applied.
  • Oversees start-up and set-up.
  • Coordinates all daily activities with supervisors.
  • Makes sure products are being ran correctly (quality, packaging).
  • Assures product wholesomeness.
  • Communicates with Quality, Maintenance, all shift production and Sanitation.
  • Responsible for answering unfavorable variances with the plant.
  • Responsible for USDA concerns.
  • Takes care of employee issues and human resource issues.
  • Schedules employees for company meetings (i.e. hearing tests, 401K sessions, etc.).
  • Coordinates rework from freezer.
  • Makes sure everyone is notified of schedule changes (production, maintenance, supply, and QC).
  • Ensures standards are met for every product.
  • Supervisory experience in poultry production facility required; cook plant or par fry experience preferred.
  • This is a safety sensitive position.

Supervisory Responsibilities: Manages subordinate superintendents who manage supervisors with hourly employees in the plant. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of these units. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university and 3 years management experience in a par-fry, fully-cooked, RTE (Ready to eat) processing facility.

Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Must have a valid driver's license and be able to quality for the company's driver program.

Reasoning Ability: Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills: To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Accounting software; Payroll systems; Spreadsheet software and Word Processing software.

The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
