Summary

Our client, a leader in providing fabrication, welding, machining, blasting and paint, assembly, and testing services, is seeking a highly engaged and results-driven Operations Manager. Reporting directly to the Plant Manager, the ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in welding and fabrication, along with a proven ability to implement business structure improvements, financial management strategies, and continuous improvement methodologies. The individual is a proactive, hands-on leader who remains actively engaged on the plant floor, ensuring direct involvement in day-to-day operations, optimize processes, and foster a high-performing team.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Promote and maintain a safe, injury-free workplace.
  • Ensure product quality standards are met and maintained throughout production.
  • Oversee all production activities in alignment with the production schedule, ensuring timely deliveries and smooth operations.
  • Set direction for production departments to maximize efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Manage customer deliveries, ensuring proper processing to meet objectives.
  • Schedule and coordinate production meetings in collaboration with project managers; prioritize job tasks to meet production goals.
  • Work closely with engineering teams to ensure job deliverables are being met on time.
  • Continuously identify and implement improvements to plant efficiencies, equipment effectiveness, and process optimization.
  • Lead the team in addressing manufacturability challenges and determining the best approach for resolution.
  • Conduct financial reviews, including assessing job performance and costs to ensure profitability and efficient use of resources.
  • Develop and manage job costing processes, working closely with finance teams to track production costs, evaluate margins, and implement cost-saving strategies.
  • Evaluate team effectiveness and workload, ensuring staffing levels align with production needs.
  • Participate in customer meetings to address concerns, assess feedback, and determine the best course of action.
  • Assist the management team with overflow work as needed and contribute to overall operational success.
  • Manage the maintenance and upkeep of the facility and equipment.
  • Supervise department lead hands and supervisors, ensuring alignment with company goals.
  • Perform employee performance evaluations and address performance issues, including developing corrective action plans for management staff.
  • Involvement in the hiring and selection of new employees.


Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5-10 years of experience in operations management, specifically within the welding and fabrication industry.
  • Familiar with manufacturing processes, blasting and painting.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial reviews, specifically reviewing job performance and analyzing job costs to ensure profitability.
  • Experience in implementing Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, JIT, and 5S strategies to improve operational efficiencies.


Technical Skills:

  • Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, 3D modeling, and automation solutions. and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook, Project).
  • Knowledge of manufacturing processes, including machining, welding, and fabrication, with an understanding of ISO 9001 and CWB procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and mechanical aptitude.

  • Results-oriented with a focus on improving plant operations and cost efficiency.
