The Delaware Center for Contemporary Arts, Inc. ( The Delaware Contemporary (TDC)) is an art space that infuses contemporary art and creativity into our community through compelling exhibitions, dynamic educational experiences, and access to the artistic process. Founded in 1979 by artists, The Delaware Contemporary presents exhibitions of regionally, nationally, and internationally recognized artists that explore topical issues in contemporary art and society. In addition, we provide opportunities for local and emerging artists to showcase their work and advance their artistic growth. Art sales through our galleries and Museum Shop support area and exhibiting artists and our commitment to the importance of contemporary art in our community. The Board of Trustees of The Delaware Contemporary seeks an Executive Director to lead the museum, cultivate donors, engage the public, and help preserve this unique Wilmington Riverfront property.
We are seeking a hands-on part-time Operations Manager to join our unique and dynamic team!
Position Summary:
The Operations Manager plans and oversees the daily operations of the organization to ensure that goals and objectives are achieved. Responsible for managing resources, and developing and implementing an operational plan. The Operations Manager assesses the needs of The Delaware Contemporary and finds ways to contribute to the organization by ensuring the facility’s daily operations run smoothly and efficiently.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees building and grounds maintenance by ensuring that the interior and exterior of the facility is clean and maintained according to company policy and procedures.
- Ensures security and emergency preparedness procedures are implemented properly.
- Oversees and supervises the quality of work for reporting employees to ensure that all tasks are performed correctly, efficiently, and effectively.
- Ensures that basic facilities, such as water, electricity, heating and air, are well-maintained.
- Ensures that the facilities exterior including landscaping is clean, well-maintained and safe for the public.
- Develops and maintains organizational safety program and communicates to all employees and artists.
- Manages and reviews service contracts including security, parking, HVAC, plumbing, cleaning, technology and so on.
- Checks completed work by vendors and contractors.
- Conducts and documents regular facilities inspections.
- Recommends maintenance, mechanical, electrical, and facility design modifications.
- Forecasts, allocates, and supervises the financial and physical resources of the facility management.
- Ensure that facilities meet government regulations and environmental, health and security standards and that licenses are valid.
- Oversees building projects, renovations or refurbishments.
- Advises business on increasing energy efficiency and cost-effectiveness.
- Supervises front of house staff during museum hours and supervises the quality of work to ensure that all tasks are performed correctly, efficiently, and effectively.
- Produces monthly cashflow projections and manages maintenance budgets and ensures cost-effectiveness.
- Oversee the organization’s inventory of technology as well as ensures all software is updated and every employee is working with the sufficient technology for their area.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Educational or Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent; BS/BA in facility management, engineering, business administration or relevant field preferred
- 3-5 years in related positions
Skills Required:
- Well-versed in technical/engineering operations and facilities management best practices
- Proficient in general maintenance methodology, operating requirements, and safety precautions related to facilities management
- Possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Displays professionalism and excellent leadership skills
- Displays good analytical/critical and problem-solving thinking
- Exceptional organizational skills including the ability to prioritize & handle multi-task
- Possesses strong problem-solving and project management skills
- Customer-service orientated with strong communication skills
- Ability to work independently with a high degree of accuracy, with attention to detail
- Is proficient in the use of Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and ability to learn and manage other apps and software operations.
- Must have available transportation to and from work.
Physical Demands Required:
- Must be able to lift 40lbs
- Must be able to climb ladders and operate scissor lift
