Position Summary
The Operations Manager – Is responsible for the daily execution, oversight, and continuous improvement of Athena’s Bitcoin ATM network operation. This role manages the operational relationship with a strategic outsourced partner while directly leading Athena’s in-house Operations Support Specialist team. The role ensures operational excellence across cash logistics, performance monitoring, compliance, and system integrity using platforms such as Morphis and Exodus.
This is a hands-on management role requiring expertise in cash management, vendor performance, regulatory adherence, and technical troubleshooting, all while maintaining a strong service culture and internal collaboration.
Key Responsibilities
Cash & Transaction Management
- Oversee ATM cash forecasting, armored carrier coordination, and replenishment processes through Morphis
- Prevent service outages and optimize liquidity through proactive transaction monitoring
Vendor & Strategic Partner Oversight
- Act as the primary liaison with Athena’s outsourced ATM operations partner, ensuring SLAs are met and escalations are resolved
- Manage vendor performance reporting, onboarding, and contract adherence
Internal Team Leadership
- Supervise and support the Operations Support Specialist team responsible for system alerts, issue resolution, and daily ops tasks
- Provide training, task prioritization, and continuous feedback for performance
Technical Monitoring & Issue Resolution
- Utilize Exodus for transactional monitoring, ATM alerts, and security flags
- Respond to and coordinate resolution of technical issues with vendors and internal teams
Compliance & Security
- Ensure all ATM operations adhere to AML, KYC, and security protocols in coordination with Compliance
- Maintain operational controls to avoid cash discrepancies, fraud, or unauthorized access
Performance & Data Analysis
- Monitor machine uptime, transaction volume, and operational KPIs
- Analyze trends, identify issues, and implement process improvements
Budgeting & Cost Control
- Manage operational expenses and assist in forecasting and cost-optimization efforts
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Partner with IT, Compliance, Finance, and Product teams to ensure aligned operations and readiness for expansion
Skills & Experience Required
- 5+ years of experience in ATM operations, fintech, banking, or cash logistics
- Familiarity with Morphis and Exodus platforms is required
- Experience managing outsourced vendors and in-house support staff
- Strong knowledge of armored carrier logistics, route planning, and reconciliation workflows
- Experience with technical issue resolution and ATM hardware/software (GenMega, Hyosung)
- Analytical and data-driven mindset with attention to detail
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Demonstrated ability to ensure regulatory compliance in operational environments
- Fluent in English; Spanish proficiency preferred
- Willingness to travel as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- Project management experience related to ATM operations or financial infrastructure
- Background in cryptocurrency or blockchain technology
- Experience operating across Latin American and/or Caribbean & US markets
