POSITION NAME: Operations Manager Off Shift (4p-1:30a or end of shift)
EDUCATION REQUIRED: Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, Operations Manager, Supply Chain, Business or another related field is required.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 5-10 years in production/operations leadership (management of total plant operations or responsibility for multiple lines and shifts). Experience at a Tier 1 supplier is preferred.
BASIC PURPOSE OF POSITION: The Operations Manager is responsible for assisting the Plant Manager in leading and managing all aspects of the production process at a Tier 1 automotive assembly facility on the off shifts. This includes ensuring a safe and professional work environment, overseeing daily operations, ensuring quality standards, optimizing efficiency, managing team members, and meeting delivery and cost targets in line with OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) requirements and IATF standards. The role demands a hands-on leader with deep knowledge of automotive quality standards, lean manufacturing, and just-in-time (JIT) and just-in-sequence production systems. This role will also serve as the plant lead for the off-shift and will report directly to the Plant Manager.
Major Duties And Responsibilities
Develop and ensure an overall strategy/plan for the Production department aligned to the plant KPI requirements and oversee day-to-day production activities to ensure safety as well as timely delivery of high-quality assemblies to our customers.
Ensure adherence to all Safety and Quality programs.
Lead, coach and develop production supervisors/specialists, team leaders and production team members.
Assess and develop an ongoing training program to introduce and ensure proper training and skill levels of the Production department. Operational understanding of all departments in order to make decisions on the off shift.
Champion teamwork in all aspects of daily operations and encourage collaboration between shifts and departments across the plant and the organization, including cross-functional dotted-line supervision of maintenance, quality, production control and production for the off-shift.
Ensure all production targets are met or exceeded.
Implement and sustain strong problem-solving, lean manufacturing principles including 5S, holding consistency to standard, kaizen and continuous improvement activities.
Coordinate with Materials/Supply Chain (Production Control) to ensure accurate materials planning and adherence to the daily build requirements, targeting the most efficient methods to achieve those targets.
Monitor and analyze KPI’s for the production department and use it assist the Production Manager and other department managers in problem-solving and root-cause analysis.
Manage labor and other resources to optimize cost-efficiency without compromising safety or quality.
Be visible on the shop floor, remaining actively involved with team members to provide guidance and support.
Participate in APQP and launch planning of new products or processes.
Serve as primary support to HR Generalist concerning attendance, staffing management and team member relations.

Strong project management skills.
Proficiency with MS Office products required, with proficiency in Excel required.
Maintain strict confidentiality of any proprietary business-related information to which entrusted.
Ability to lift 70 lbs., see colors, use a computer, stand/walk/sit for up to 12 hours and perform all functions within the Production department.
Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends when necessary.
