Scope of the Role
FinRegLab is a nonprofit innovation center that advances the safe and smart use of data and technology in financial services to help families and small businesses get the financial products and tools they need to manage their daily lives and build more secure futures. With our research insights, we facilitate discourse across the financial ecosystem to inform market practices and public policy.
FinRegLab is seeking a detail-oriented, disciplined, and relationships-focused Operations and Development Manager with a strong work ethic, ability to learn quickly, and motivation to help our mission-driven organization execute its operational and fundraising strategy. This role will consistently have an eye on the needs of the organization and be looking for ways to improve the internal operations while facilitating the lifecycle of funding opportunities. Must be able to work independently and also in partnership with vendors to execute and drive toward organizational excellence.
Reporting to the Director of Finance and Operations to help manage development and grant administration, finance, and technology. They will also conduct general administrative support for operations functions.
Core Responsibilities
Grant and Database Administration
- Support the development of and play a substantial role in executing the organization’s development/fundraising strategy and research.
- Take primary day-to-day responsibility for the development, improvement and use of fundraising systems and tools (specifically including Client Relationship Management (CRM) platforms) for pipeline management and contact database.
- Project manage applications for grants, collaborating with internal and external partners to ensure timely and accurate submission and reporting.
- Develop, implement, and maintain effective systems and project management for grants management and reporting in conjunction with program staff and coordinate with operations personnel about financial components of the reports.
- Develop and maintain development and grants calendars.
- Support general fundraising efforts.
Operations and Finance Management
- Serve as the primary liaison between our IT Managed Service Provider vendor and organizational leadership.
- Provide administration of organization-wide software tools, technology related personnel onboarding and offboarding, and training for staff.
- Manage logistics for organizational-wide meetings and events and provide on-site technology assistance.
- Support technology related communications functions, such as newsletter transmission.
- Assist ongoing improvement of operational processes and procedures.
- Handle the execution, filing and inventory management of all FinRegLab contracts; serve as the gatekeeper and quality assurance mechanism by enforcing contract approval processes.
- Assist with reimbursement processes, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
- Assist in coordination and engagement on Vendor and Funder payments, Accounts Payable and Account Receivable procedures.
- Provide support during the annual fiscal year audit including coordinating audit meetings, provide documentation when necessary.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
- 5+ years of relevant operations in business administration and grant management, preferably in a non-profit organization.
- Technology savvy with experience selecting and overseeing software installations and managing relationships with software vendors.
- Excellent written language and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- The ability to balance, prioritize, and manage competing demands and be flexible to support the team's outcomes.
- Ability to work both independently and collaborate as part of a larger team.
- Aptitude in decision-making and problem-solving.
- Basic knowledge and understanding of pipeline management, grant application portals and grant & contract reporting.
- Experience with CRM systems.
Location, Salary and Benefits
This position is based in Washington, D.C. and in line with our work hours and location guidelines for hybrid work, the expectation is to come into the office a minimum of 3 days a week.
Compensation will be commensurate with the overall experience level of successful applicants. Offers will include a competitive benefits package.
