How this position will Make the Difference to City of Melbourne

The Community and City Services Division supports a vibrant, liveable Melbourne by managing key community spaces. The Libraries, Recreation and Waterways branch oversees Docklands waterways, Melbourne City Baths and aquatic facilities, while the Waterways team partners with government to deliver accessible, active waterfront spaces for all.

The Operations & Administration Officer will provide vital support to the Waterways team by assisting with daily operational tasks and administrative duties, ensuring the efficient and effective operation of the Waterways Office. Acting as the first point of contact for marina guests, the role includes providing a meet-and-greet service for arriving vessels, introducing visitors to marina facilities and precinct amenities, and responding to enquiries from boat owners.

The position is responsible for maintaining the Waterways Office, marina lounge and associated facilities, offering docking assistance when required, and undertaking regular dock-walks to identify and address maintenance issues across the Docklands precinct. The Operations & Administration Officer will conduct basic maintenance checks on safety equipment, carry out light cleaning duties and provide assistance to boat owners as necessary. Any maintenance concerns or safety issues identified will be reported promptly to senior Waterways staff to ensure the ongoing safety and functionality of the precinct’s facilities

Additional responsibilities include administrative support, processing bookings for commercial vessel pick-up and drop-off, assists with event and meeting setups, and oversees room hire requirements.

This role presents an exciting opportunity to contribute to Melbourne’s vibrant waterfront community by delivering exceptional service and operational excellence.

This position has an established pathway to senior administration positions for the right candidate.
