Operational Risk Manager – Challenger Bank | £65,000–£75,000

A fast-growing challenger bank is looking for an experienced Operational Risk Manager to join their Risk & Compliance team. This is a great opportunity to shape how operational risk is managed in a dynamic, banking environment

The role:

You’ll help lead the evolution of the bank’s operational risk framework—working closely with business units, senior leaders, and risk champions to ensure effective oversight, challenge, and reporting. You'll produce insightful risk analysis, run deep dives on incidents, and help embed a strong risk culture across the organisation.

What you'll be doing:

• Support the design and rollout of the operational risk framework and policies
• Guide business areas through the Risk & Control Self-Assessment (RCSA) process
• Monitor key risks, controls, incidents, and corrective actions
• Produce clear, concise risk reports for the board and senior management
• Lead thematic reviews and track emerging risk trends
• Chair the Risk Champion forum and drive cross-functional engagement

What you'll bring:

• Strong operational risk experience within financial services—ideally banking
• A solid grasp of PRA/FCA regulatory expectations
• A track record of building or enhancing operational risk frameworks
• Confident communicator with the ability to influence at all levels
• Data-savvy—comfortable turning risk data into useful insight
• Analytical mindset and a drive to improve how risk is managed
