In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN acquired the Oko West Project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.

To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of: Security Manager

Job Summary

Reporting to the General Manager, the Security Manager will be responsible for managing security, surveillance services and systems at the OKO West Project site and other company locations and to ensure the security team is well trained to protect the organization’s assets and people. To implement and maintain emergency response procedures to minimize loss or damage.

Working Conditions

The Security Manager position at the OKO West project site in Guyana will be a rotation-based role, offering flexibility in scheduling to accommodate the successful candidate’s location and personal preferences.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Security & Asset Protection
  • Develop and implement security measures to safeguard the mine site, employees, and assets.
  • Oversee and maintain security infrastructure, including video surveillance, electronic security, access control, and perimeter protection.
  • Monitor all site entry and exit points, ensuring strict adherence to access control protocols.
  • Coordinate heightened security measures for the transport of gold and other high-value assets.
  • Investigate and document security incidents, suspicious activities, and breaches.
  • Act as a senior technical resource for all security-related matters.
  • Emergency Response & Crisis Management
  • Design and implement emergency preparedness programs to ensure effective crisis response.
  • Establish clear security protocols for vehicle operations, access restrictions, and curfews.
  • Ensure all personnel understand emergency communication channels and response procedures.
  • Enforce disciplinary measures for security violations and escalate serious infractions to senior management.
  • Security Operations & Compliance
  • Supervise the administration of security services and ensure accurate reporting of incidents and hazards.
  • Maintain and update safety and injury prevention documentation to meet statutory and high-quality standards.
  • Analyze security data and reports to enhance operational efficiency and reduce risks.
  • Regularly review security policies and recommend improvements to the Safety Superintendent.
  • Team Leadership & Development
  • Lead, train, and mentor a team of security professionals to ensure optimal performance.
  • Forecast staffing requirements and manage scheduling for continuous security coverage.
  • Provide employees with clear objectives, expectations, and ongoing training in security operations.
  • Conduct performance reviews, provide constructive feedback, and support career development.
  • Foster a proactive security culture that prioritizes vigilance, professionalism, and accountability.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Security Management, Criminology, Law Enforcement, or a related field (preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of security experience, with at least 5 years in a senior security role within mining, high-value asset protection, or a related industry.
  • Strong expertise in risk assessment, security protocols, and crisis management.
  • Background in law enforcement, military, or corporate security preferred.
