The Press Operator is responsible for printing forms and checks on an offset printing press. SPECIFIC FUNCTIONS: Use Parts Lists to pull the correct pack stock from the stock shelves. Mounts plates on the press, keeps ink in fountain, keeps fountain solution topped off. Use Parts list to ensure that you are running the correct amount of paper to allow for set up for subsequent operations. Use the Pantone Scales to mix ink if necessary Perform minor adjustments to press such as ink keys, roller pressure, cleaning of water roller covers, replacement of blanket. Start press, run up, adjust registration, and take sample to match against copy and ensure that everything matches. Read notes on Work Order and make sure any special handling is adhered to. Must understand how to maintain proper ink and water balance to achieve desired color density on sheet. SKILLS REQUIRED: Must be able to multi-task in a fast paced environment. Must have effective communication and organizational skills.
