Team: Digital Infrastructure & Innovation
Are you passionate about bridging the physical and digital worlds? Do you thrive in high-tech environments where innovation is more than a buzzword? We’re looking for an
IoT Networking Specialist to play a key role in building the backbone of our Digital Twin infrastructure — bringing real-world data from machines, sensors, and environments into a dynamic, virtual ecosystem that powers next-generation manufacturing and research.
About the Role
As our IoT Networking Specialist, you’ll be responsible for creating secure, scalable, and efficient network connections that enable real-time data collection from a wide range of devices and systems — from advanced robotics and CNC machines to smart building sensors. You’ll work at the intersection of hardware, software, and network architecture, collaborating closely with our Network and Security teams to ensure all IoT integrations meet rigorous enterprise standards.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll help shape how we capture and use operational data to drive decision-making, sustainability, and performance across our facilities. You’ll also work closely with developers, engineers, and facility managers to troubleshoot, document, and scale IoT solutions across a diverse and fascinating array of equipment.
What You’ll Do
Design and deploy secure IoT networking strategies to connect a wide range of industrial and facility equipment
Integrate data from systems such as robotics, CNC machines, 3D printers, HVAC, power meters, and environmental sensors into our Digital Twin platform (Tandem)
Collaborate with internal stakeholders including network security engineers, systems integrators, and innovation teams to ensure secure, reliable data flows
Work with Tandem Connect, MTConnect, and OPC UA to configure, test, and optimize data ingestion pipelines
Develop clear documentation, user guides, and repeatable workflows to help scale solutions across teams and locations
Troubleshoot issues related to network connectivity, data transmission, and hardware/software integration
Recommend new tools, protocols, or configurations to improve performance, reliability, or ease-of-use
Stay ahead of IoT trends and advocate for best practices in network security and data management.
Requirements
The Tech & Tools You'll Work With - Devices: CNC mill/lathes/routers, robotic arms, 3D printers, laser cutters, composites, glass and ceramics equipment, smart building sensors (power, HVAC, occupancy, etc.)
- Protocols & Platforms: Tandem, MTConnect, OPC UA, MQTT, TCP/IP, REST APIs
- Security & Networking: Enterprise network standards, VLANs, firewalls, endpoint security, encryption protocols
What We’re Looking For
You’re someone who gets excited by the challenge of integrating complex systems and making them work seamlessly together. You understand networks, devices, and data flows — and you love making things smarter, faster, and more connected.
What you should have
- 3+ years in IoT/IIoT, network engineering, or a similar technical integration role
- Exprience configuring secure connections between industrial equipment and enterprise networks
- Solid knowledge of networking protocols and security best practices
- Familiarity with data ingestion and integration platforms (e.g., OPC UA, MTConnect, MQTT)
- Comfortable working hands-on with both software and hardware (installing sensors, configuring edge devices, etc.)
- Strong troubleshooting skills and a collaborative mindset
Bonus Points For:
- Experience in manufacturing, smart buildings, or R&D facilities
- Familiarity with Digital Twin platforms (e.g., Tandem)
- Scripting or automation experience (e.g., Python, Bash)
- Experience with edge computing or embedded systems.
