At 4S UK we pride ourselves on delivering world-class networking solutions and services across some of the most complex and secure networks in the UK.

We're currently expanding and looking for passionate, skilled Senior Network Test Engineers with eligibility for SC Clearance to join us in both permanent and contract roles. The role is based out of Reading with occasional travel to other customer locations.

Responsibilities

• Review overall and project-specific network architecture and implementation plans to identify critical areas for testing.
• Develop detailed test plans, scenarios, cases, and scripts aligned with the overarching test strategy.
• Collaborate with the Network Test Manager for test documentation review, approval, and test effort estimation.
• Select appropriate tools for non-functional testing and support engineering teams in deploying these tools in lab and live environments.
• Coordinate with engineering and build teams during early-stage network builds to execute and monitor testing activities.
• Install and configure traffic generators and other test tools, including creating traffic profiles for load and performance testing.
• Ensure test environment readiness and support continuous testing throughout the development lifecycle.
• Provide daily status updates to the Network Test Manager and ensure the timely completion of assigned tasks.

Skills and Qualifications

• Deep understanding of networking protocols and technologies: TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, PPPoE, IPoE, VPNs, etc.
• Strong experience in :-
• Functional testing: validating core network services (routing, QoS, MPLS, VPN).
• LAN/WAN integration testing: including network connectivity, QoS, VLANs, failover, remote access, and resilience.
• Performance testing: including data center traffic replication and bandwidth saturation tests.
• Non-functional testing: including load, stress, failover, scaling, stability, and continuity testing.
• Familiarity with end-to-end service integration with tools such as SOC/SIEM, CyberArk, and remote management platforms.
• Proficiency in tools and frameworks such as Spirent, Ixia, Wireshark, Selenium, BNG Blaster.
• Experience with test and defect management tools like HP ALM, JIRA
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Networking, or a related field.
• Industry certifications such as CCNA, ISTQB Foundation (minimum), or equivalent are highly desirable.
• Excellent analytical, troubleshooting, and documentation skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills; capable of mentoring junior testers and leading small test teams
