The Salem Housing Authority is seeking a skilled and motivated Network Technician to join our dedicated support team. This full-time opportunity offers a dynamic and rewarding role working with the latest in hardware, software, and IT infrastructure. The Network Technician will work as a key member of a small, agile team committed to problem-solving, process improvement, and advancing the Salem Housing Authority's mission through thoughtful technology solutions. Your contributions will directly support over 50 staff across multiple office locations as we deliver essential housing assistance to our local community.
As part of our IT support team, you will be responsible for testing, configuring, deploying, and maintaining a wide range of technology, including servers, computers, mobile devices, printers, and various software systems and peripherals. This hands-on, technical position plays a vital role in troubleshooting and repairing systems, providing technical documentation, delivering training, and offering support through phone, email, remote access, and on-site visits.

What you will do:
In this role, you will be responsible for administering and maintaining Windows Server environments, including Active Directory, IIS, and SQL Server. You will ensure the stability and performance of the Cisco network infrastructure, as well as manage and support VMware virtual server environments. The Network Technician job duties will also include diagnosing and repairing hardware, peripherals, printers, and general Windows OS and software issues. Additionally, you will coordinate with third-party vendors to support and maintain system functionality, ensuring efficient and timely resolution of issues.

* Monitor, prioritize, and respond to helpdesk tickets to ensure timely support and resolution.
* Diagnose technical issues and perform effective repairs on hardware, software, and systems.
* Configure systems and applications to align with agency requirements and operational goals.
* Collaborate with the IT team to address the full range of technology needs of Salem Housing Authority.

What are the minimum qualifications?
* Must pass the pre-employment background check
* Must pass criminal background check necessary to obtain Criminal Justice Information System clearance and Law Enforcement Data System certification within 30 days of hire (clearance must be maintained throughout employment).
* Must have an Oregon Driver license and have a driving record that meets the City of Salem's driving standards.
* Two years of college level course work in Information Systems, Computer Science, or related program area, and two years of personal computer maintenance and installation experience in a network environment, or any combination of experience and training that demonstrate possession of the knowledge, skill and abilities as listed, and ability to perform the essential job functions.
What you will bring along:
* Strong customer support skills with a focus on identifying root causes and addressing core user needs;
* Knowledge of proactive customer support strategies, with a strong ability to focus on root cause identification and improving the technological landscape for employees;
* Knowledge of Structured Query Language (SQL), with the ability to write commands to achieve specific goals and extract actionable data;
* Knowledge of enterprise network infrastructure and adherence to industry standards;
* Knowledge of common computer hardware and peripherals, including their functions and troubleshooting techniques;
* Experience with administration and maintenance of Windows, Windows Server, Active Directory, and VMware virtual environments;
* Experience in diagnosing and resolving a wide range of hardware and software issues efficiently.
