Position and Responsibilities
As a member of the support services department, you will be responsible for conducting required inspection, testing and maintenance requirements for fire protection and emergency response systems including but not limited to fire extinguisher testing and charging, hose pressure testing, sprinklers, fire water pump, bell testing, door checks, bunker gear, hazmat equipment, and SCBA. You will be responsible for the inspection of fall protection equipment and ladders, completion of breathing air system testing, perform preparation, monitoring and escort requirements for contractors performing third-party fire and emergency response reviews/inspections/training, and other duties as assigned.
The Emergency Systems Operator has an active role in updating and delivery of training such as fire extinguisher, hazmat, and other emergency response training.
Education and Qualifications
Required:
Grade 12 Diploma
Experience with fire protection and/or fire suppression systems is a strong asset.
Experience in first aid, hazmat, fire and rescue response is preferred.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, and the ability to work in accordance with established procedures and work practices are essential.
Ability to present training packages to large groups of people.
Ablility to work with technology and mobile devices.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Team oriented with the ability to work independently.
