Network Security Engineer

My client are seeking a skilled and driven Network Security Engineer for a 12 Month Contract.

The role is paying $70 USD per hour

The client would like someone who can go to site to Santa Rosa as much as possible.

What You'll Be Doing:

• Serve as the SME and escalation point for operational support of network security infrastructure, particularly in ITAR-controlled environments.
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex network and firewall issues with efficiency and precision.
• Monitor security infrastructure and logs daily, responding swiftly to alerts to prevent service disruptions.
• Optimize and maintain security alerting and monitoring tools, especially within SolarWinds.
• Apply vulnerability patches regularly and work closely with vendors to implement security enhancements.
• Partner with the Information Security & Compliance team to develop and implement robust network security strategies.
• Lead technical incident response efforts (P1–P3) and provide expert guidance during escalations.
• Drive continuous improvement efforts through participation in problem management, root cause analysis, and post-incident reviews—minimizing downtime in critical production environments.

Global Projects and Innovation:

• Take part in global initiatives such as site buildouts, new acquisitions, technology refreshes, and innovative solution deployments.
• Help stabilize and optimize newly implemented, cutting-edge network security technologies.
• Engage with business stakeholders, ensuring smooth deployment and communication around new security initiatives.
• Flexibility to support operations during weekends and holidays as needed for both projects and urgent operational tasks.

What We're Looking For:

• 5+ years of hands-on experience in network and security engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant technology field or equivalent certifications/experience.
• U.S. citizenship or permanent residency required
• Strong experience with Fortinet firewalls is essential.
• Familiarity with Palo Alto Networks firewalls is a plus.
• Experience with Cisco Catalyst, Nexus, and ACI technologies is highly desirable.
• Prior exposure to managing ITAR-secured network environments is a strong advantage.
