SMX is seeking a talented Network Operations Administrator to join our team. In this role, you'll work with tools like SIEMs, firewalls, and intrusion detection systems. You'll also help manage encryption systems like PKI, ensure networks meet DoD security standards, and assist with audits and compliance.
This position will be onsite at the client location in Patuxent River, MD.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
* Review security monitoring tools and investigate suspicious activity across IT systems and networks for potential signs of compromise and related threat intelligence
* Evaluate and support the ongoing effectiveness of Information Assurance (IA) Defense-in-Depth operations and strategies
* Ensure Public Key Infrastructure (PKI) and other encryption schemes are implemented by DoD and DON policy
* Identify cybersecurity trends and assess potential risks to mission-essential networks, including Cloud, RDT&E, and NMCI environments across various classification levels
* Implement and manage multiple cybersecurity tools and platforms, including: Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems Perform triage and analysis of security alerts to determine threat severity and response requirements
* Escalate complex or high-impact incidents to senior or Tier III analysts as appropriate.
* Correlate and validate security alerts to ensure they are relevant and actionable Contextualize cybersecurity events, assess their organizational impact, and coordinate real-time response with key personnel
* Conduct in-depth analysis of critical IT infrastructure elements, recommend remediation actions, and monitor implementation and effectiveness
* Support system enumeration and auditing activities to meet cybersecurity compliance requirements under federal, DoD, and industry regulations
Required Skills & Experience
* Clearance Required: Top Secret
* Minimum of 4 years of networking experience including one or more of the following:
* Cisco
* Juniper
* F5
* Palo Alto
* Active Professional Level network/security certification (e.g., CCNP)
* Must be able to maintain DoD 8570 compliance
Desired Skills & Experience
* Knowledge of Intrusion Detection/Prevention Systems (IDS/IPS)
* Experience with threat and vulnerability management tools

The proposed salary for this position is:
$78,100-$130,300 USD
