WHAT YOU WILL DO:
We are currently seeking a motivated, collaborative and committed individual to fill our Network Engineer Tier II position within our Global Network operations team. The successful candidate will be working as part of a growing managed services organization with opportunities to work independently as well as part of a team with the ability to develop your managed service skills to the fullest. The role specifically involves working as a Network Engineer Tier II supporting large-scale enterprise network infrastructures for multiple customers.
The successful candidate will help develop and understand requirements from internal customers and create technical solutions to improve productivity and service. The candidate must have a strong technical background, be innovative and agile, collaborate well in a team environment, and have very strong written and verbal communication skills - a visionary who challenges the status quo and believes that technologies can level-up productivity.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist with troubleshooting multi-vendor, multi-protocol enterprise networks:
- Respond to network alerts and diagnose issue causality with the ability to create Root Cause Analysis (RCA).
- Work with telecommunication providers in support of circuit related issue resolution.
- Work with a variety of vendors to triage configuration, hardware and software issues.
- Escalation SME & oversee the most critical and complex network issues.
- Support the engineering team in analysis of network events / outages to identify permanent resolution, prevention, as well as service improvements.
- Ability and knowledge to assist with various network projects across multiple business units:
- Wi-Fi design / troubleshooting.
- Ability to create and update existing network documentation and Wiki’s.
- Mentor and guide junior engineering team members.
- Engage in escalations from junior engineers and the customer.
ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:
- Networking Certifications such as Cisco CCNP is beneficial.
- Expert-Level Networking Knowledge: Extensive understanding of network architecture, advanced routing and switching protocols, network security, and high-level network design.
- Expertise in resolving the most complex and critical network issues, often involving deep troubleshooting and advanced diagnostic techniques.
- 5+ years of recent experience with Layer 2 Switching protocols.
- 5+ years of recent experience with Layer 3 Routing protocols.
- Experience with multiple networking vendors including Cisco, HP, Aruba, Juniper, and Arista.
- Solid understanding of Enterprise Network Design, infrastructure, operational, and IT managed service (ITSM) best practices.
- Deep understanding and experience with technologies including RSTP/MSTP, VLAN, VTP, ARP, OSPF, BGP, TCP/IP, UDP, NDP, VxLAN, VRRP, EtherChannel in a global enterprise environment.
- Knowledge of application-level protocols such as SNMP, telnet, FTP, HTTP, HTTPS, DHCP, DHCPv6, DNS. 802.1x, and IPsec.
- Strong Wi-Fi experience including design, implementation and troubleshooting.
- Ability to configure and troubleshoot routing / switching equipment.
- Proficiency in Linux operating system, Note: scripting experience a plus.
- Experience with IPv4 & IPv6 in a dual stack is a plus.
DESIRABLE CRITERIA:
- Cisco CCIE, Juniper JNCIE or specialized certification in network security or cloud networking is preferred.
- Experience with Python and Bash scripting.
- Global experience with enterprise environments.
- Strong attention to detail, and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent customer-facing verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven organizational skills.
- Fluent in spoken & written English preferred.
- Strong mentoring skills and desire to mentor junior engineers.
